GENEX Annual Meeting 2025: "The Sky is the Limit"

From the opening farm tours to the final round of applause, the 2025 GENEX Annual Meeting was an energizing showcase of collaboration, innovation and member engagement – all under the inspiring theme, “The Sky is the Limit.”

Held in Atlanta, Georgia, this year’s meeting brought together 75 beef and dairy delegates from across the U.S., along with their guests, for three days of learning, networking and future-focused discussion. And from the feedback we’ve received, the event delivered on all fronts.

To kick things off, delegates boarded buses and hit the road for a firsthand look at leading Georgia beef and dairy operations. Beef delegates traveled north to Potts Brothers Farm in Jefferson, where they explored the farm’s deep roots and modern approach to raising functional Angus cattle. Dairy delegates headed south to Montezuma to visit Barrington & Highbrighton Dairies. There, they got a firsthand look at progressive dairy practices and strategic breeding program.

Later that evening, delegates and staff joined forces for a special service project, rolling up their sleeves to build hydroponic garden kits for a downtown Atlanta elementary school. The “Hydroponics for Hunger” session offered a meaningful way to give back – and build camaraderie in the process.

The next day featured a series of insightful presentations and breakout sessions. GENEX CEO Huub te Plate welcomed attendees, followed by a keynote from Kevin Ochsner, host of the Cattlemen to Cattlemen podcast, who drew parallels between auction success and business success. Dr. Shari Van de Pol, founder and CEO of CATTLEytics, discussed the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in dairy and cattle production. Breakout sessions covered topics such as reproductive technology, productive life models and AI-driven learning for farm staff. That evening, everyone gathered at the Ventanas Skytop Venue for a banquet and sky-high celebration. With a social hour, photo ops and dueling pianos show, it was a night to remember!

The final day included a session on navigating dairy and beef trends in 2025, led by Abbi Prins, Dairy & Animal Protein Industry Analyst at CoBank. The GENEX senior leadership team then shared their strategic vision for the future. The annual business meeting followed, with reports from GENEX President John Ruedinger, CFO Sander Flanderijn, CRI Treasurer Chuck Dallas and CEO Huub te Plate.

The 2025 GENEX Annual Meeting was a resounding success, providing delegates with valuable insights, networking opportunities and a vision for the future. As we look ahead, GENEX is committed to innovation, excellence and the cooperative approach because together, we’re shaping the future of the beef and dairy industry. And with this momentum, the sky truly is the limit.
