In January, longtime PEAK Partner Herd, Pagel Family Business, tagged their 10,000th PEAK calf born! This achievement equates to approximately 27,000 IVF embryo transfers to their recipients, combined with a tremendous amount of hard work and collaboration by many different team members. Congratulations to the Pagel Team, Industry Specialists, and PEAK Female Team members who helped make this happen.
As part of our most recent Quarterly Performance Meeting with the Pagel Team, we celebrated this incredible milestone with a delicious cheesecake in the shape of a PEAK ear tag, prepared by our infamous cheesecake designer and baker, Heidi Heller. PEAK is incredibly proud of this accomplishment and all the team members who dedicated their time and expertise.
PEAK Partner Herds, also known as recipient locations, are valued resources for PEAK, which is entrusted with the huge responsibility of implanting PEAK embryos and producing healthy calves for our program. On a weekly or biweekly basis, PEAK supplies elite genetic embryos to these locations, upon which our recipient partners transfer these embryos into their pool of available recipients who are screened negative for BVD and Leukosis before implanting. The confirmed pregnancy will remain at these partner locations where the recipients will calve, and the resulting calves will be raised until weaning.

Our PEAK Partner Herds are vital in ensuring program success by adhering to biosecurity and vaccine protocols, enabling global semen marketing. They screen recipients, coordinate synchronization with our IVF facilities, and provide top-tier care for elite genetic calves. Their commitment to testing allows both males and females to enter production seamlessly. Strong collaboration with PEAK has fostered operational excellence.
Each year, our partners transfer approximately 10,000 embryos, resulting in nearly 4,000 PEAK calves—the next generation of donors and AI males for PEAK and its URUS partners. The PEAK program is largely successful due to the exceptional recipient partners we work with on a continued basis!
