At URUS, collaboration isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a way of life. It fuels our growth, enhances our efficiencies, and ensures that every farmer we serve has access to the right solutions for their goals. As part of the Integration team, I witness firsthand how working together across functions strengthens our organization and drives operational excellence.
Our direct ‘customers’ are often our internal teams. We create a more efficient and effective organization through collaboration, ensuring that each function supports our brands and contributes to the broader URUS mission. A great example is our Supply Chain team, which manages logistics, warehouse operations, inventory, procurement, and documentation. Their success hinges on seamless coordination and communication with production and sales teams. By working together, they maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure timely product deliveries get shipped timely with the right documentation while navigating global logistics complexities.
Beyond logistics, collaboration also plays a critical role in our operational processes. Across the world, we store semen and manage genetic products, engage with local partners, and procure essential supplies. Recently, we saw how increased teamwork among colleagues in similar roles led to improved processes and a safer workplace. A prime example was a visit from our Canadian Supply Chain team to locations in Brazil and Argentina. Both teams enhanced their local operations by exchanging best practices on safety and inventory management. Meanwhile, Alta Brazil’s efficient caning operations have been identified as a best practice for potential global implementation—another testament to the power of knowledge-sharing.
Procurement is another area where collaboration leads to direct, measurable benefits. By consolidating our buying volumes, we’ve unlocked significant operational savings across Trans Ova, Alta, and GENEX. It’s incredible how simple yet impactful it is when we streamline vendor accounts. And as we look toward 2025, procurement collaboration will be an even bigger focus—not just for cost savings but for strengthening vendor partnerships. When we work with fewer vendors but engage more meaningfully with them, we lower our operational costs while improving service quality. A great example is PEAK’s renegotiation of their barn staff clothing contract. By working together, they achieved cost savings and secured an improved service agreement and higher-quality clothing for their team.
These successes prove that collaboration is more than just teamwork—it’s a strategic advantage. By continuously strengthening our connections across teams and leveraging our collective expertise, we create a stronger, more efficient URUS. Together, we are not only improving our operations but also enhancing the impact we have on farmers worldwide.
Let’s keep the momentum going!
